Littleridge Self Catering on Skye is a modern and cosy cottage in the village of Ord. We hope we have included the little details that will make your holiday special; a welcome hamper, wifi and satellite television to name a few. Whether you are looking for wildlife, adventure or just some gentle relaxation Littleridge will make a perfect base for your holiday.
This modern bungalow has an elevated position overlooking Crossavaig Wood and is three minutes walk from the sandy beach. Open all year round Littleridge is 40 mins from the Skye bridge or 25 mins from the Armadale ferry terminal.
Unlike most villages in Sleat, Ord is not a crofting township. The Ord village infact grew up round an 18th century farm. Ord was the home of the Macdonald family described in the book A Summer in Skye published in 1867.
The Nicolson family took over the lease of Ord Farm in 1926 and in 1947 the big house became Ord House Hotel, run by sisters Katie and Mary Flora Nicolson. People came from far and wide for the much celebrated afternoon teas.
Ord is also famous for the Cabbage Tree, a palm tree which grows in the walled garden at Failte. Seeds are said to have been shipped over from New Zealand in the 1870’s and over 140 years later the trees are still an amazing sight when in bloom.
Ord House is no longer a hotel and the farm has changed hands but Littleridge Self Catering is run by the same Nicolson family that first moved to Sleat, from Carbost, 85 years ago. We hope you will feel at home in Ord and enjoy everything Sleat has to offer as generations have done before.
